Commercial property wins vote for new Michigan hotel

A new hotel is coming to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and it is going to have 110 rooms for those who come to visit the popular college town. It will be an extended-stay hotel, according to the planners, who took it before the Planning Commission for a vote. It passed by a vote of 8-0.

The hotel is going to be known as the Residence Inn by Marriott, and it is going to be situated right at the corner of Ashley Street and Huron Street. The plans for the building show that it will have some historic charm and that it will pay a tribute to the area's heritage by utilizing a facade for the historic bus depot, rather than destroying it. The building will feature an attractive brick exterior, and there will be space in the ground floor for a restaurant. That restaurant is going to look out toward Huron Street.

To put in the new structure, though, a pair of buildings would have to be demolished on the site. The lot itself is just under half of an acre. When it is done, the hotel is expected to be 88,570 square feet, and it will be six stories tall.

New commercial buildings cannot always simply be built at the whim of those who own the lots, and they must go through an approval process first. It is crucial for anyone who is considering this type of a project to know how the laws in their part of Michigan are going to relate to their project and their commercial property, and they can then take steps to make sure that all laws are followed.
